Summary

Alderman Nicholas Sposato’s 38th Ward update focuses on property tax appeals for Jefferson Township, including instructions for filing with the Cook County Assessor until November 12. The newsletter does not mention zoning/development, housing or transit policy changes, budget decisions, or street safety/redevelopment actions. October 1st Update

Dear Friend,

Jefferson Township is open for Property Tax appeals with the Cook County Assessor's Office until November 12th. Appeals are intended to correct the accuracy of your property value. If the property characteristics listed on your assessment notice are incorrect or if the estimated market value of your home is significantly more than what you believe your home could sell for in the current real estate market, you should file an appeal.

The Assessor's office strongly encourages online appeals. For the online appeal process, you will need an email address, your PIN number and any additional documentation. Creation of an online account with the Cook County Assessor's Office is required to file an appeal online. Visit cookcountyassessor.com/online-appeals to file an appeal online. If you need a paper appeal form, click HERE or you can pick one up at our office. We can no longer accept appeal forms at our office; paper appeal forms will have to be mailed. If you have questions or need assistance, please call the 38th Ward Office at 773-283-3838 or stop by our office at 3821 N Harlem.

Sincerely,
