Dear 6th Ward Neighbors,

February is a time to celebrate, reflect, and move forward, together. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, honoring the resilience, leadership, and contributions of the trailblazers who have shaped the heart, culture, and future of our community. Their legacy reminds us that progress requires courage, collaboration, and a shared vision. This is the same spirit that guides our work in the 6th Ward today.

Earlier this week, we gathered for a community zoning meeting where neighbors shared their perspectives, asked thoughtful questions, and weighed in on decisions that shape our neighborhoods. I value every voice. As your Alderman, my responsibility is to listen carefully and act in the best interest of moving the 6th Ward forward, ensuring growth, development, and resources that benefit all residents. My office will continue to create meaningful opportunities for engagement while guiding our ward with purpose, transparency, and care.

This year, I remain committed to educating, empowering, and engaging residents, making sure you know the who, what, when, where, and why behind decisions that impact our community. Your input guides this work, and your involvement is essential to building a 6th Ward that is resilient, fair, and thriving.

This month also brings meaningful opportunities to connect, reflect, and move forward—together. We will begin by honoring 100 years of Black History Month at DuSable Museum Day on Saturday, February 7, with a ribbon cutting at 9:30 AM at the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center.

On Thursday, February 12, adults over 55 can enjoy connection and fellowship at the Hearts & Harmony Love Luncheon at The Cov, a Valentine’s-themed celebration focused on joy and well-being.

Registration Required | Space is Limited

Call (888) 600-2560 to register.

Residents are also invited to gather in faith and reflection at the 6th Ward Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, February 18, from 12:00–1:00 PM at St. James Community Church.

In addition to these events, our office continues to support local entrepreneurs through appointment-only Business Office Hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, offering one-on-one assistance with business proposals, zoning, programs, and resources. Each of these moments reflects our shared commitment to building a stronger, more connected 6th Ward—where we show up for one another and move forward together.

My commitment remains unwavering: to listen, to act, and to respond; and to nurture our neighborhoods; while championing the initiatives that lift us all. Together, we are building a 6th Ward that moves forward, stronger, fairer, and more vibrant every day.

Warm regards,

Alderman William Hall

6th Ward Volunteer Summit Recap & What’s Next

We recently hosted a Virtual Volunteer Summit after originally planning the event to be held in person. Due to inclement weather conditions, the summit was quickly pivoted to a virtual format to ensure the safety of all participants. Despite the change, community members came together to engage in meaningful conversation centered on serving with purpose.

The summit highlighted current and upcoming volunteer opportunities, shared resources to support community engagement, and celebrated the collective impact of volunteers across the ward. Participants also learned how to stay connected and get involved in ways that support seniors, families, and neighborhood initiatives.

Due to the positive response and continued interest, we are excited to announce that the next 6th Ward Volunteer Summit will be held in person on Saturday, February 21st. More details will be shared soon, and we look forward to connecting face-to-face and continuing the work of strengthening our community together.

Registration details will be released soon—neighbors are encouraged to save the date and be ready to sign up.
