Today, we celebrate a monumental milestone: the Semi-Quincentennial of these United States!

Two hundred and fifty years ago, a bold experiment in democracy was born. While our journey has never been perfect, the true beauty of America lies in our ability to grow, learn, adapt, and strive toward a more perfect union.

Today, let’s look back with gratitude for everything this great nation has given us, honor the diverse voices that shape our story, and look forward to the future we are building together.

Happy Fourth of July! One nation, under God, still growing and still shining.🗽

Raymond Lopez was first elected to the Chicago City Council in April 2015. Since then, Raymond has been a fighter for working families by pushing for safer neighborhoods, community investment, better jobs with living wages, quality education, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. Before being elected Alderman, Raymond was a blue-collar worker checking luggage as a skycap at Midway Airport. Raymond currently lives with his husband of 20 years, Hugo, in Brighton Park, where they have six rescue dogs, whom he brings to work daily!
