Dear 6th Ward Neighbors,
We are starting 2026 focused, energized, and ready to make a real impact. More than 300 residents joined our first community meeting of the year, where we reflected briefly on 2025, shared the full 2026 6th Ward calendar, and most importantly, had honest, meaningful conversations about where we are and where we want to go. I heard you clearly, your concerns, your ideas, your hopes for this ward. You were candid about what you want and need, and I want you to know that your voices continue to guide this work. My commitment remains the same: to build a vibrant and resilient ward, and to do so in partnership with you.
This year, we are building on the economic development, community programming, and investments that yielded real results last year. In the coming weeks, you’ll see more updates highlighting resources, events, and opportunities to gather, connect, and build together. You will also hear directly from me about the story—the why behind the work, the partnerships we cultivate, and my advocacy for you on the block, down at City Hall and beyond.
I am grateful for partners like Mather at The Cov, whose mission is to bring at least 1,000 adults over 55 from the 6th Ward into their programming; the Capital One Shine Bright Community Center, which is supporting our efforts to bring more jobs into the ward; and Advocate Health, which is helping ensure we are living whole and well this year. These are just a few of the cornerstones helping make progress possible and nourish the beauty that lives in the 6th Ward. To me, leadership means listening, responding, and acting with integrity. That is the standard I will continue to hold myself to.
Let’s do this heart work together and continue nurturing the strength, resilience, and beauty of our community.
