Correction: How to Reduce Post-Storm Flooding

Relevance: 0/10

Summary

Alderman Desmon Yancy’s newsletter is a correction clarifying the correct office phone number (773-324-5555) for residents to report post-storm flooding to the Department of Streets and Sanitation; it also notes that 311 requests are only submitted when an entire street is underwater. It advises that puddles after rain are normal and not considered an emergency, and otherwise includes standard social media and contact/unsubscribe information.

CORRECTION

We just discovered a typo in our office number in the "Help Us Help You" section of this morning's newsletter. Here's the correct number. We want your calls to land in the right place!

Help Us Help You

Call our office at (773) 324-5555, and we will alert the Department of Streets and Sanitation to flooding conditions near you. One note: We can only submit a 311 request if an entire street is underwater. Anything less than that is a puddle, no matter how large it is. It's normal for puddles to form after a rainstorm, so it is not considered an emergency.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

Desmon Yancy
