July 23rd Update

Dear Friend,

Join us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4th from 5pm to 8pm at Norwood Park, 5801 N Natoma. Come out to this family-friendly event and enjoy food trucks, music, activities for kids and much more!

Support the Police T-shirts (S-XL $15) will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts will go to 16th District National Night Out, Officer Bartholomew's family, and the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. This is a great opportunity to show your support for the police and to meet me, my staff, Alderman Gardiner, and Alderman Napolitano. Hope to see you there!

BOARD OF REVIEW

The Cook County Board of Review has officially opened the 2026 tax year session for appeals. Property owners may Pre-File an appeal of their 2026 property taxes with the Cook County Board of Review now, OR you can wait until the Assessor has finalized the property value and then file an appeal when your township's 30-day appeal period opens.

You are not required to submit comparable properties as evidence with your appeal. The Board of Review will provide the latest and most accurate data to substantiate your appeal. For step-by-step directions on how to file an appeal, click HERE.

WATER MANAGEMENT PROJECT

The Department of Water Management is in the process of cleaning and installing restrictors in catch basin drainage structures in parts of the 38th Ward. The limits of the work are from Montrose to Addison and Narragansett to Laramie.

The Restrictor Replacement Program will assist with controlling the flow of water into the sewer system. By slowing down the flow entering the main sewer line, restrictors help prevent downstream pipes from becoming overloaded during heavy rain and peak use. This control reduces the risk of basement flooding and protects wastewater treatment plants from being overwhelmed. The project is expected to be completed in early August.

Sincerely,
