Dear Neighbors,
I am pleased to share that several major infrastructure improvement projects are underway throughout Lincoln Park as part of my 2025 and 2026 Ward Menu Program. Together, these projects represent hundreds of thousands of dollars in investments to improve the safety, appearance, and long-term condition of our neighborhood's streets, sidewalks, parks, and alleys.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of projects happening in the neighborhood. Please stay tuned to my Monday E-Newsletter for periodic updates on other infrastructure projects.
-
Weather permitting the Southport, Fullerton, Webster, and Belden alley resurfacing is scheduled for TOMORROW, Thursday, July 9. Residents who access garages from the alley should plan accordingly, as alley access may be temporarily restricted while paving operations are underway.
-
At Southport and Belden, the concrete pouring for the new sidewalks, curbs, and gutters is scheduled to be substantially complete by the end of this week, with the intersection expected to reopen to traffic by Thursday, July 16. Construction of the raised intersection will then begin over the following couple of weeks, after which crews are expected to begin grinding Southport Avenue between Webster Avenue and Fullerton Avenue in preparation for resurfacing.
-
Magnolia between Webster and Belden is scheduled to be resurfaced on Tuesday, July 14, weather permitting. Residents should anticipate temporary impacts to parking and vehicle access while paving operations are in progress.

In addition, Clover Playlot is receiving several capital improvements that will enhance both safety and recreation for neighborhood families. Current work includes replacement of the lead service line serving the drinking fountain, removal of dead trees, installation of new artificial turf in areas prone to flooding, refreshed decorative hardscaping along the existing paver walking path, and construction of a brand-new Gaga Ball court for children to enjoy.
As with all public infrastructure projects, construction schedules remain dependent on favorable weather conditions. The extreme heat experienced last week, followed by periods of inclement weather, has contributed to construction delays across Chicago. I sincerely appreciate your patience as this work progresses. While these projects may create temporary inconveniences, they represent a substantial investment and reflect my continued commitment to improving our neighborhood.
I look forward to seeing these improvements completed and know they will benefit residents for many years to come.
