Early voting for the March 17 primary election is currently going on at the two downtown locations at 69 W. Washington and the supersite at 137 S. State. Early voting in the ward sites will start on March 2nd. Click here for more information on early voting.

Earth Day is on April 22nd and the Chicago Park District is looking for park captains to help organize cleanup of parks and playlots. Captains will organize a cleanup crew on April 18, 2026 at their park coordinating with the park’s supervisor. See below for more information.

Holiday Hours: On Monday February 16th, Presidents' Day, our office will be closed. Please make sure to keep your garbage and recycling carts out all week since pickup can be affected by this.

Conversation with the Commander

New Water Main Project

Dickens, Damen to Avondale

The Department of Water Management (DWM) is pleased to inform you of its intent to construct a new Water Main project in the 32nd Ward. 930 feet of 8-inch water main with complete service connections will be installed on Dickens from Damen to Avondale.

During completion of the water main installation, DWM will begin outreach as part of the Lead Service Line Replacement (LSLR) Program to replace lead water service lines for all residents within the limits of the newly installed water main. Restoration will follow, including full-width street resurfacing along with the replacement of damaged parkways and sidewalks.

We anticipate construction will commence in late February 2026 with completion of the water main projected for late May 2026 with restoration to follow. 

After the new water main has been installed, the described area will experience an increase in the availability of water for fire protection and domestic use. This project is part of an ongoing effort in our commitment to the residents of the city of Chicago.

Fletcher Water Main Project Update 2/13/26

Monday (02/16/26): Final connection at Hoyne and catch basin outlet installation

Tuesday (02/17/26): Final connection at Hoyne and catch basin outlet installation

Wednesday - Friday (02/18/26 -02/20/26): Private drain replacement

Water Service Interruptions:

Scheduled water main shutdown on Monday 02/16/2026 on Hoyne between Belmont and Wellington at 01:00 PM until the work is completed. DWM will provide advance notice before service interruptions.

Traffic & Parking Impacts:

No parking will be allowed within the active work zone during construction hours.

Hoyne Ave from Belmont to Barry will be closed during construction hours on Monday and Tuesday.

In addition to contacting our office with questions, residents can look for a crew member on the street wearing a white hard hat to have questions answered immediately. 

Neighborhood Meeting to Review Proposed Developments

February 19, 2026, 6 PM Pulaski Elementary School 2230 W. McLean

This notice is to inform constituents of a neighborhood meeting to review two proposed residential developments on the 1800 block of N. Winnebago. The two sites are roughly 200 feet apart and Alderman Waguespack is hosting a neighborhood community meeting to collect constituent feedback on both proposed projects. The two sites are owned by two separate owners, and the two proposed projects have different developers.

1801 N. Winnebago

The site is currently a surface parking lot adjacent to the "L" tracks at the corner of Winnebago and Bloomingdale. The plan calls for a 30-unit residential building 46 feet in height with 23 parking spaces. The average unit size is 760 square feet and includes nine studios and 21 two-bedroom units. The property owner and developer is 1801 N. Winnebago LLC, Lester Lis, Manager. The architect is Red Architects, Tom Drapszo.

The site is currently a vacant lot bounded by Winnebago, Moffat, and a public alley. The plan calls for a 30-unit residential building 54 feet two inches in height with six parking spaces. The average unit size is 713 square feet and includes four studios, twenty-two one bedroom units, and four two-bedroom units. The property owner is 1820 Winnebago LLC, Michael Faron and the developer is KMW Communities LLC. The architect is Eckenhoff Saunders Architects, Inc.

Election Dates to Keep in Mind

Vote By Mail Reminder

The United States Postal Service cannot guarantee your Vote By Mail return ballot envelopes will be postmarked the same day that you mailed it. Any ballot postmarked after Election Day on March 17 cannot be accepted. USPS recommends voters take additional precautions and mail their completed Vote By Mail Ballot at least one week (March 10) before Election Day.

Returning your ballot close to Election Day (March 17)? You have options!

• Drop your ballot off into any of 52 Secure Drop Boxes located at all Early Voting sites in Chicago – even on Election Day!
• Starting February 12 at the New Voting Supersite at 137 S. State St.
• Starting March 2 at all 50 Ward Early Voting Sites across the city
• Go to the post office counter and request a manual postmark
• Deliver your ballot directly to 69 W. Washington St. – either at the First-Floor lobby drop box or in the 6th Floor office

All qualified ballots properly postmarked by Election Day (March 17) and received up to 14 days after (March 31) will be processed and counted for the 2026 Primary Election. The Chicago Board of Elections will send you an email when it receives your ballot return envelope, and again when your ballot has been processed and counted.

Please Note: Precinct polling places on Election Day do not have drop boxes. Precinct election judges cannot accept Vote By Mail ballots, and VBM ballots returned at precinct polling places will not be processed. Voters instead can use any of 51 Vote Centers open on Election Day to return their Vote By Mail ballot, including the new downtown voting Supersite at 137 S. State St.

Don’t risk a late postmark on your ballot – take any of the steps above to make sure your vote counts!

Department of Family Support Services Would Like YOUR Feedback: Senior Needs Assessment Survey 

The City of Chicago Department of Family and Support Services Seniors Division which serves as the Area Agency on Aging for Chicago is asking seniors (60 years of age or better) and their caregivers to identify programs and areas of need in preparation for the FY2027 Area Plan on Aging.
