Ronnie Mosley Ward 21
Relevance: 0/10

Summary

In a storm recovery update, Alderman Ronnie L. Mosley (21st Ward) reports ongoing City and ComEd work to restore power and clear storm damage, including ComEd’s status that 14,009 customers are restored and 4,102 remain without power. The message also directs residents to report outages/damage via ComEd/311 and provides guidance on safety and submitting ComEd damage claims for spoilage or appliance/electronics losses. Other than recovery information, no zoning, transit, housing, budget, or street-safety meetings or policy actions are mentioned.

Email from Office of Alderman Ronnie L. Mosley, 21st Ward Alderman

21st Ward Family,

The 21st Ward was among the areas hardest hit by last night’s storms, marking the second severe weather event to impact our community in less than 48 hours.

City crews continue working throughout the ward to restore power, clear debris, remove hazardous trees, and address storm-related damage. I’ve been on the ground in Brainerd and Maple Park who have been heavily impacted.

Current ComEd data shows:

  • 14,009 customers restored
  • 4,102 customers remain without power
  • 77.4% of impacted customers restored
  • 29 crews actively working on outages

If you remain without power:

  • Text OUT to 26633 to report your outage
  • Stay away from downed wires and call 911 if they present an immediate danger
  • Report storm-related damage through CHI311 or by calling 311
  • Check on seniors, neighbors, and vulnerable residents

Need air conditioning, a restroom, or a place to charge your phone? Visit your local Chicago Public Library, Chicago Park District fieldhouse, or police station during operating hours.

IMPORTANT: Residents who experienced food spoilage, appliance damage, electronics damage, or other losses related to power outages may submit a damage claim directly to ComEd. Before disposing of damaged items, take photos, save receipts, and document all losses. ComEd’s claims process requires supporting documentation.

While the City cannot determine whether a claim will be approved, residents who experienced food spoilage, appliance damage, or other losses related to the outage may wish to submit a claim directly to ComEd. We encourage residents to document everything with photos, save receipts, and keep damaged items until they receive further guidance from ComEd. https://www.comed.com/my-account/customer-support/contact-us/damage-claim

Our office remains in communication with ComEd and City departments and will continue advocating for resources until recovery efforts are complete.

Alderman Ronnie L. Mosley
