NOTICE OF PUBLIC SAFETY INCIDENT: JANUARY 5, 2025

Dear Neighbors,

On December 27 at 3:59am, an adult was fatally shot on the 5100 Block of North Sheridan. The incident appears to be targeted. At this time, the shooting is under investigation. If you have information, please contact Area 3 detectives at 312-744-8261.

As a community leader, I’m outraged by the gun violence in our city and community. I am committed to continuing to partner with police and community organizations to build communities where everyone feels safe. Over the past two years, we have worked to increase both police attention and community involvement in this area. Please join us in this work by attending the next beat meeting:

Public safety is our office's top priority. Our Safe 48 Health and Safety Plan focuses on coordination and collaboration across government agencies, community-based organizations, and neighbors.
