Printers Row Lit Fest Returns Sept. 12–13 With More Than 200 Presenters

For one September weekend, Chicago once again becomes the literary capital of America when the 41st Annual Printers Row Lit Fest returns to the historic Printers Row District on Saturday and Sunday, September 12–13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Presented by the Near South Planning Board, the Midwest's largest and longest-running free outdoor literary festival brings together more than 200 authors, journalists, poets and storytellers, offering something for readers of every age and interest. This year's lineup includes Chicago literary icon Scott Turow and Geoff Bennett, Peabody Award-winning co-anchor of PBS NewsHour and author of Black Out Loud: The Revolutionary History of Black Comedy from Vaudeville to '90s Sitcoms.

The festival will feature eight Pulitzer Prize winners, including four members of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Chicago Tribune reporting team, as well as bestselling authors, award-winning journalists, historians, poets and emerging writers. Programs will explore fiction, history, politics, investigative journalism, mystery, horror, memoir, poetry, food, dance, young adult literature and cultural criticism.

Families are especially invited to enjoy a full slate of children's programming, including the Storytime Parade, Broadway Dropouts children's theater performances, interactive storytelling and author presentations. Young readers can meet authors including Leslé Honoré (My Brown Boy), Homer Hans Bryant (The Rap on Girls in Ballet), Julian Randall (Shook), Veronica Arreola (J Is for Justice) and others. In addition to the family programming there is a Chicago Park District "Books and Beats" event at Henry (Dearborn) Park on Sunday, September 13.

The festival will also feature new, used and rare booksellers, author conversations, panel discussions, book signings and writing workshops along South Dearborn Street between Ida B. Wells Drive and Polk Street.

Whether you're a lifelong reader, looking for your next great book or introducing a child to the joy of reading, the Printers Row Lit Fest offers a free weekend of ideas, stories and discovery right here in Chicago.
