Relevance: 0/10

Summary

Meeting Pope Leo XIV: An Invitation from Chicago’s 6th Ward

Dear 6th Ward Family,

Yesterday, I had the profound honor of attending Mass led Pope Leo XIV at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, Italy.

Sitting in the presence of Pope Leo, listening to his words of wisdom truly inspired me.

After mass, I shared a personal invitation to Pope Leo XIV to come the 6th Ward, and consider celebrating an intimate Mass at St. Benedict the African, one of the spiritual anchors of the 6th Ward.

What a powerful moment it would be for the Holy Father to worship among our families and experience the faith, African heritage, culture, and spirit of Chicago’s Six Ward.

This visit was also about our young people.

In addition to mass with the Pope, I traveled to met with education partners in Rome. The meeting was very positive as we are moving forward in establishing a sustainable international education  partnership.

The 6th Ward’s first international education and cultural exchange program, is about opening doors for our young people to experience the world while sharing the story of our community with other young people across the world.

The world should know the 6th Ward and our young people should travel the world while they are young.

I return home grateful, hopeful, and excited about what is ahead.
