The Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County will be at the 19th Ward Office (3207 W. 111th St.) from 12:00-4:00pm today, March 25th, to assist our military veterans and their families with disability related issues, financial assistance, and healthcare questions. Please remember to bring your DD-214 and a valid driver's license or state ID. Please see the flyer below for details.


This event is co-hosted by Alderman Matt O'Shea, Senator Bill Cunningham, Representative Mary Gill, Representative Rick Ryan, and Commissioner John Daley.


Donors Needed - Blood Drive on Sunday, March 29th

On Sunday, March 29th, the 19th Ward Youth and Community Foundation is hosting a blood drive at St. Christina Parish Center located at 11034 S. Christiana Ave. from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The Community Blood Center has an urgent need for all blood types. With each donation, you are helping local patients who rely on this lifesaving gift. We encourage you to schedule a donation in the days ahead to help us maintain a reliable blood supply. Appointments are required. You can register either here or by calling 1-800-280-4102. Please be sure to bring a photo ID to the appointment. Please take a look at the flyer below for the details.

Illinois Secure Choice

Illinois Secure Choice is a state-facilitated retirement program that makes it easy to save for retirement. Since it launched in 2018, the program has brought retirement savings access to workers in every county across Illinois. Not only is Illinois Secure Choice open to employees who work for an eligible employer, the program is available to anyone who wants to enroll on their own and start saving. The program is open to employers who have at least 5 employees in every quarter of the previous year, have been in operations for at least 2 years, and do not offer or contribute to a qualified retirement plan.
