Relevance: 0/10

Summary

In this 41st Ward Alderman Anthony Napolitano newsletter, the main announcement is a planned railroad crossing closure at Ozanam (Canfield) and Olmsted from September 14–September 28, with expectations of traffic delays and alternate-route changes. The rest of the email focuses on ward updates and resident resources, including neighborhood reporting via CHI311/311 app and business/job workshop information, plus a call to address ā€œhotel-housesā€ from online short-term rentals.

Email from 41st Ward

Dear Neighbor,

I want to make you aware of an upcomingĀ railroad crossing closure at Ozanam (Canfield) and OlmstedĀ that will impact traffic in the area.

TheĀ State of Illinois and Union Pacific RailroadĀ will be closing the crossing beginningĀ Monday, September 14, to allow forĀ state and federal upgrades and repairsĀ to the crossing.

šŸ“… Project Dates

September 14 – September 28

While the project is currently scheduled to be completed by September 28,Ā residents should expect possible delays and changes to traffic patterns, including increased traffic on surrounding streets as drivers seek alternate routes.

I strongly encourage everyone who regularly travels through this intersection toĀ plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and completely change your normal route when possibleĀ during the closure.

We will continue to monitor the project and provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this important work is completed.

Sincerely,

Anthony Napolitano

Neighborhoods throughout Chicago have been negatively affected by online, temporary home and room rentals. These online rentals are on the rise and may pose a threat to our community by facilitating pop-up parties and illegal activity. These "hotel-houses" may also have a negative impact on property values. The quality of life in our neighborhoods is paramount and we need your help banning these "hotel-houses" on your block and throughout the 41st Ward.
