Dear Neighbor,

The Chicago Department of Transportation has announced details for the 2026 Shared Cost Sidewalk Program. The shared cost sidewalk program is an extremely popular way in which property owners share the cost of sidewalk repair with the City of Chicago. The 2026 Shared Cost Sidewalk Program will open on January 12, 2026 at 6:00 am. Please contact our office to be a part of this voluntary program and take advantage of the low-cost, exceptional value, and ease of participation. The Shared Cost Program cost per square foot charge to property owners is well below what a private contractor would charge. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities may qualify for a further discounted rate. Applications will be taken on a first come, first served basis. The number of participants is based on availability of funds. The program typically reaches capacity quickly. If you need your sidewalk repaired, please contact our office before January 8, 2026. Our staff will be prepared to submit your request to the Chicago Department of Transportation as soon as the program opens.

***Please note that if you applied for the program in previous years, but did not participate, you must apply again in 2026.

Neighborhoods throughout Chicago have been negatively affected by online, temporary home and room rentals. These online rentals are on the rise and may pose a threat to our community by facilitating pop-up parties and illegal activity. These "hotel-houses" may also have a negative impact on property values. The quality of life in our neighborhoods is paramount and we need your help banning these "hotel-houses" on your block and throughout the 41st Ward.
and find out how you can ban hotel-houses in your precinct.
