Dear Neighbors,
The Chicago Department of Transportation has informed my office that the resurfacing of Southport from Webster to Fullerton will commence early next week.
Resurfacing the street was on hold until now because of private lead service line replacements at various addresses, catch basin repairs, and sewer structure realignments. These repairs, although inconvenient, were necessary to avoid further cuts into the new asphalt surface after repaving. Crews removed barricades and other material left over from those repairs and posted "No Parking" signs today in preparation for the resurfacing.
Workers will intermittently close and redirect traffic as needed during the active resurfacing. The department liaisons expect the work to be completed soon, with traffic and parking restored to normal.
I would like to thank residents for their patience while this important project is completed.
