16th Ward Community E-Newsletter

Relevance: 1/10

Summary

Alderman Stephanie D. Coleman’s March 2026 16th Ward newsletter focuses on encouraging residents to submit 311 service requests for city issues like potholes, street lights out, and fly dumping, and highlights the ward’s service office hours and contact information. The newsletter also promotes resources and applications, including property tax exemption information for the 2025 tax year and various community events/educational opportunities with “save the date” and “register today” links, but it does not mention specific zoning, development, transit, or budget/hearing actions.

Save Money on Your Property Taxes

Exemption applications for the 2025 tax year are now available online. When you claim exemptions on your home you unlock real savings that help lower your property tax bill. Applying for exemptions online is easy and allows certain exemptions to rollover year-over-year.

One of the most common exemptions is the Homeowner Exemption. This exemption saves homeowners on average around $950 every year. You may also be eligible for other exemptions including:

  • Senior Exemption
  • Senior Freeze
  • Veteran with Disabilities
  • World War II Veterans
  • Person with Disabilities

Don't miss out on property tax savings. To review the exemptions you received in the past, check your property details and look under the 'Exemption History & Status' section.
