Thank you Gen-Ki Karate for teaching self-defense to women of the 45th Ward at
St. Mary of the Woods School.
| The 45th ward prays for peace, understanding, and empathy for the victims, survivors, and families impacted by the events on October 7, 2023. | | |
Andrew Paulauskas, a 45th ward resident and member of the Chicago Police Department, was honored today for his commitment to serve and protect the residents of Chicago.
Andrew was shot in the line of duty while apprehending a suspect with a firearm who had fled the scene of an investigation.
After careful attention from the medical staff at Stroger Hospital and by God's grace, Andrew performed months of grueling physical therapy in order to continue serving the residents of our city.
Andrew has proudly served as a Chicago Police Officer for 4 years and is fortunate to be alive today due to a bullet that missed his arterial artery by an ⅛ of an inch.
May God continue to bless Andrew and all members of the CPD who risk their lives to ensure our safety.
