Upcoming Ward Nights
Our upcoming ward nights are Monday, July 13 and July 27, 2026. We schedule Ward Night visits by appointment to ensure ample time for residents to discuss community concerns and opportunities with the alderman. Appointments are filled for July 13, but appointments are available for July 29. DPD Webinar for Workforce Solutions Program
The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 AM regarding the Workforce Solutions Program. The City of Chicago provides financial assistance for job training through the Workforce Solutions program managed by DPD. The program
provides financial assistance to qualified Chicago businesses to subsidize training for incumbent workers and new hires. Register for the webinar here.
Community Development Grants OPEN
The City of Chicago is taking applications for Community Development Grants (CDG) for small and medium grants to support a variety of eligible, business-related investments that create and maintain jobs and quality-of-life improvements for local residents. Irving Park Department of Water Management Project 7578 Updates
This week, the Department of Water Management (DWM) continued the coordinated installation of the water and sewer mains between W Grace and W Waveland. In addition to this work, which is nearing its completion at this location, DWM finished installing a new manhole at the Waveland and St Louis ave intersection, and completed the water main source connection at the N St Louis and N Elston intersection. Please note that in observance of July 4th, crews will not be out tomorrow, July 3rd.

Sewer/Water Schedule - June 6th, 2026 - July 10th, 2026
The Department of water management will be working to complete the installation of the water main on N St Louis and the connections to the newly installed manhole at N St Louis ave and W Waveland. They will also begin working toward the installation of a new sewer main eastward on W Waveland between N St Louis and N Bernard. A new catch basin will also be installed on the east side of N St Louis between W Grace and W Waveland.

Currently, contractors are in a mobilization phase, which includes deliveries of materials on site, saw cutting, testing holes, and traffic management signage/adjustments being made. Please note pipe laying activities are expected to begin next week.

Parking Restrictions
“No Parking” signs will be posted on both sides of the street during construction hours (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) where work is being performed.
Parking will be allowed outside of work hours and on weekends.
Signs will be placed 48 hours before work begins and will be limited to the block where work is actively taking place or being staged.

Fullerton Avenue Arterial Resurfacing
The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has begun work on the Fullerton Road Arterial Resurfacing Project, between Kimball Avenue and Lockwood Avenue. Alderman Anthony Quezada was proud to have secured some of the funding for this resurfacing project when he was our 8th District Cook County Commissioner and is elated to see this work commence.
The contractor has completed milling operations on the stretch between Lockwood and Kildare. The contractor has been working to lay the first layer of asphalt on this stretch and begin utility adjustments.
Parking restrictions will be in place during working hours and in areas where work will be taking place. Parking will be permitted outside of working hours when possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office with any questions, and we will share more information as it becomes available.
Seeking Feedback on Diversey Traffic Pattern
Our office is seeking community feedback on a recent recommendation provided to us by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) to improve traffic flow during peak hours on W Diversey between N Western and N Artesian. CDOT ultimately recommends adding parking restrictions on the south side of the street for east-bound traffic between the hours of 7am and 9am, Monday through Friday to alleviate traffic congestion concerns. Please provide your feedback using this form. We will continue to accept any commentary related to this recommendation until Friday, July 10th.
Seeking Feedback on Avondale Ave Traffic Pattern
Our office is seeking community feedback on a recent recommendation provided to us by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) to address traffic safety concerns on N Avondale between N Troy and N Whipple. CDOT recommends that Avondale be converted from 2-way traffic to 1-way traffic going southeast bound to help prevent car collisions and accidents.

Upcoming Paseo Prairie Garden Work Days
The Friends of Paseo Prairie Garden will be hosting upcoming volunteer work days. Each work day will be held from 10am-11:30am at Paseo Prairie Community Garden, located at 2614 N Kedzie, and volunteers can assist with weeding, trash pickup, watering and planting.

Chicago Minimum Wage Updates
Effective July 1, 2026, the Chicago minimum wage for employers with four or more employees will increase to $17.05 per hour, and the tipped worker minimum wage will increase to $12.96 per hour.
