Election Day: TOMORROW, Tuesday, March 17
The 2026 General Primary Election is March 17, 2026. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time at your assigned precinct polling place. You may vote in person on Election Day if you have not voted early or by mail. This election determines party nominees for federal, state, county, and local offices on the ballot in Chicago. The Board provides official forms and tools for registering to vote, updating your registration, sample ballots, and applying for vote by mail. Information on Vote By Mail, the Permanent Vote By Mail Roster, and other dates and services can be found below.
For polling location lookup, click here.
For those planning to vote by mail, please note that mail ballots must be postmarked by March 17, 2026 to count.
On December 24, 2025, USPS changed its definition of a "timely postmark" to mean the date a piece of mail is processed, not that it is received. Mail-in voters should keep in mind that:
- A ballot or any other mailpiece may be taken into any post office to receive a free manual postmark
- Completed mail-in ballots may also be taken to any early voting location to be deposited in secure collection boxes
Only 1 in 5 Chicagoans registered to vote cast a ballot in the last midterm election in 2022 (click here to read more about the low turnout). Please vote to make your voice heard; we get the government we elect.

USPS Delays Impacting 2nd Ward Residents
Over the past several weeks, I have received an increase in the number of requests for assistance with mail service and deliveries for the United States Postal Service (USPS). While the USPS is subject to federal oversight, I have contacted our local federal elected officials about the frequency of delays and inconsistent service, specifically in Lincoln Park and Old Town (60614 area code). Federal officials have staff designated to reach out to USPS on your behalf. These offices are listed below. Please note that you may only fill out one privacy release form.
Representative Mike Quigley - Chicago Office
Address: 1925 N. Clybourn Ave. Chicago , Illinois 60614
Phone: (773) 267-5926
Privacy Release Form
Senator Dick Durbin - Chicago Office
Address: 230 S. Dearborn Street, Suite 3892 Chicago, IL 60604
Phone: (312) 353-4952
Privacy Release Form
Senator Tammy Duckworth - Chicago Office
Address: 230 South Dearborn Street, Suite 3900 Chicago, IL 60604
Phone: (312) 886-3506
Privacy Release Form
I have been informed that staffing is the primary cause of this issue, as well as severe weather conditions. USPS is currently undergoing staffing issues due to a lack of revenue growth, and the US Postmaster General is set to testify before Congress this month about updating federal rules on borrowing. For more information, you can view an article from the Associated Press here.
I will continue to update you on issues with USPS that affect the 2nd Ward. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call my office at (312) 643-2299.

TaxSmart Mortgage Credit Certificate Program

The Chicago Department of Housing recently launched its TaxSmart Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) Program, an initiative designed to help eligible home buyers reduce their federal income tax liability and expand access to affordable home ownership opportunities for Chicago residents.
The TaxSmart MCC Program provides qualified home buyers with a federal income tax credit based on a percentage of the mortgage interest paid annually. By reducing homeowners’ federal tax liability, the program helps lower the effective cost of home ownership and increases purchasing power for income-eligible households, including many first-time home buyers.
Through the Series 2026 issuance, eligible home buyers purchasing properties within participating jurisdictions may apply for a Mortgage Credit Certificate through approved participating lenders. The program is intended to complement existing housing initiatives and support neighborhood stability by assisting working families in achieving sustainable home ownership.
Constituents may learn more about the program by clicking here, or by calling (312) 744-0891.
