Email from 6th Ward Central

Dear Neighbor,

I want to make you aware that a winter storm is impacting the Southeast Side of Chicago, with snowfall expected to continue through the evening.

Following a briefing from the Department of Streets and Sanitation, crews are actively deployed throughout the 6th Ward and are prioritizing main and arterial streets, bus routes, and high-traffic corridors, as well as routes near schools, senior housing, and medical facilities. Plowing and salting operations will continue throughout the storm to help keep roadways safe and passable.

As conditions worsen, I encourage everyone to take extra precautions:

Use caution when driving or walking

  • Avoid parking on snow routes
  • Allow extra travel time
  • Check in on seniors, neighbors, and anyone who may need assistance

Please note: The 6th Ward Office will be closed tomorrow due to weather conditions. If you encounter hazardous conditions, please report them by calling 311. Urgent matters can still be directed to the office via email.

Please stay safe, stay warm, and continue looking out for one another.

Warm regards,

Alderman William Hall
