🚔 Open the Satellite Office!

Earlier this month, the community and my colleague, Alderman Daniel La Spata and I held a press conference to demand a 12th District satellite office be opened as soon as possible!

We have seen robberies increase and the community is demanding action. We need the Mayor to partner with us to get this done already. Enough is enough - I will not stop calling for this until we get it!

COMMEMORATING 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VIETNAM WAR

I was proud to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, taking a moment to pause and remember our Veterans. We will never forget those who did not make it back, we cherish those with us still today, and we honor the sacrifices made for our freedom.

A few days later, I was still reflecting on the past weekend and commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. The stories we heard hit hard and reminded me of my father, who was also a Vietnam Veteran.

Let us continue to do everything we can every day to serve our Veterans. They deserve nothing less. 🇺🇸
HONORING WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

Let's take a moment to honor all the amazing women who make the world a beautiful and better place.

POLICY UPDATES FROM ALDERMAN VILLEGAS

✍🏽 STATEMENT ON FEDERAL CUTS TO VETERAN AFFAIRS

Trump’s plan to cut 80,000 employees from Veteran Affairs is outrageous. Our Veterans and their families deserve better! I reiterate my commitment to do everything I can in the City Council to ensure that Chicago remains on its path to being one of the best cities for Veterans in the country.

We should do everything that we can to serve those who served our country. They deserve nothing less. Defend our Veterans!

🚦CALL FOR HEARINGS: SPEED CAMERAS IN CHICAGO

It was announced that 50 new speed cameras will be installed throughout the city this year. I am calling for hearings with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) to elaborate on their process, strategy, and implementation of the new cameras. Speed cameras should be for improving traffic safety in our city, not as a revenue-generating tactic.

✍🏽 INTRODUCED: RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY OF CHICAGO EXPLORE ALTERNATIVE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Digital communication is one of the main ways we engage with constituents, neighbors, and stakeholders. It is important that the platforms the city utilizes help amplify essential messaging and make sure residents are connected to what they need. I introduced a resolution calling for the city to explore multiple platforms for their official communications - making sure we are meeting residents where they are.

RESOURCES
PROMOTING COMMUNITY SAFETY

- Our office works closely with the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff's Office to respond to crimes and keep our residents safe.
- As a reminder, always CALL 911 whenever you see a crime or suspicious activity occurring. That is the only way for CPD to know when & where to target their responses.
- Attend a community meeting with your Police District! At the bottom of this email, you will find the CAPS Police Beat Meeting Schedules for the 11th, 12th, and 25th Police Districts. Find your Police District & Beat here: operations.chicagopolice.org/FindMyDistrict
