Dear Neighbors,
As we continue to experience summer heat, we invite you to join us this Friday, July 10, for a free community screening of the award-winning documentary Cooked: Survival by Zip Code at Clarendon Park. Hosted by the 46th Ward Office, in partnership with the People's Response Network and the Chicago Park District, this event will explore how extreme heat disproportionately impacts communities, why heat preparedness matters, and what we can all do to protect ourselves and our neighbors during the hottest months of the year.
Following the film, members of the People's Response Network—who have spent the past six years organizing around climate resilience and disaster preparedness in Chicago—will lead a community discussion about the lessons from the film, local resources, and practical ways neighbors can prepare for future heat events and other climate-related emergencies. The organization first brought Cooked to Chicago communities in 2019 with Alderman Byron Sigcho-López, and we're excited to bring this important conversation to the 46th Ward.
