Email from 19th Ward Office

Dear Chicago,

Last night, a severe storm rolled through our community. Again, causing significant damage and power outages. As of noon today, storm damage reports have included:

  • over 75 tree emergencies
  • 1800 homes without power (down to 212 as of 12pm)
  • 14 damaged street light poles
  • 16 reports of wires down

I will continue to work with the Department of Streets and Sanitation/Bureau of Forestry to address blocked streets and sidewalks as well as Chicago Department of Transportation/Bureau of Electrical Operations to repair the street light poles.

We ask that you contact 311 to report a fallen tree or branch, or storm-related damage. I strongly urge you to stay away from downed wires of any kind!

If your electricity service has been disrupted, please report the outage to ComEd immediately using one of the following options...

  • Online
  • Via the ComEd Mobile App
  • Via text message by texting "ADD OUTAGE" to 26633
  • Via phone, by calling 1-800-334-7661

I will continue to update residents as I receive more information. Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Matthew J. O'Shea

Alderman, 19th Ward
