Gold Coast Shredding Event: August 30
Join me this Sunday, August 30, for my 2nd Ward Paper Shredding & E-Recycling event held at 1258 N State Pkwy (My Parking lot). Before arriving, please place your materials in paper bags or boxes/containers that will be returned to you and remove all paper clips and binder clips. Please bring no more than three grocery bags of documents for on-site shredding.
Please enter the parking lot from State Pkwy, follow staff directions in regard to pulling your vehicle forward to prevent backup in the line, stay in your vehicle so staff may remove your shredding items, and exit west out the gate to the alley. Walk-ups are welcome!
Thank you to Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, Sen. Sara Feigenholtz, Rep. Margaret Croke, 2nd Ward Committeeperson Tim Egan, and My Parking for being co-hosts for this event.

Lakeside Market Grand Opening
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of welcoming Lakeside Market to their new home at 680 N Lake Shore Dr.
I was joined by many Streeterville residents as we cut the ribbon and welcomed Neelam Patel and his team to the 2nd Ward. Lakeside will offer fresh produce, dry goods, prepared food, and kitchen needs.
Special thanks to the "Dukes of Streeterville" for their musical welcome.
Make sure to stop by and help welcome them to the neighborhood!

Inner Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing Planned for Next Week
The Department of Transportation has notified my office that they expect the next phase of the Inner Lake Shore Drive resurfacing project (top layer of asphalt, from E Lake Shore Dr to Ohio St) to commence as early as next week.
As discussed in previous newsletters, this investment will provide a smoother roadway, improve pedestrian safety, and extend the life of this important neighborhood street. Permanent pavement markings, including lane lines, stop bars, and crosswalks, will be installed after resurfacing is complete. Thank you for your continued patience.

Chestnut Sidewalk Restoration Planned for Monday
My office has received notification that sidewalk restoration from the Chestnut lighting project (from Mies van der Rohe to Lake Shore Drive) will begin on this upcoming Monday, August 31. This includes work that occurred on Dewitt Pl.
The delay in restoration was due to the contractor's identification of vaults underneath several locations that required a special spread footing foundation before concrete could be repoured. While the city approved the new foundation two weeks ago, the custom anchor rods needed for the foundation were delayed. They have now arrived and are expected to be installed next week, with final concrete to be poured soon thereafter.
The delay was understandably frustrating, and I appreciate the patience of residents while the contractor works to finally complete this project.
