36th Ward February Newsletter

Relevance: 1/10

Summary

The 36th Ward newsletter highlights several key community initiatives: the weekly Vet Connect program continues to provide veterans with VA resources, and a volunteer clean‑up drive is underway to keep streets tidy. Residents are reminded that early voting for the March 19 presidential primary opens on March 4, with the ward office closed that day for Casimir Pulaski Day, and that the ward will host a small‑business expo on March 14 and a CityArts grant application deadline on March 25. Additional announcements include job openings with the Streets & Sanitation department, summer park jobs, and a last‑minute registration for Bell Park Baseball’s spring programs.

EVENT HIGHLIGHT ⭐️
36th Ward Vet Connect
On January 30th, more than 50 veterans came to my office to get connected with benefits. As a Marine Veteran, I'm grateful we host this program every week.
Semper fi! 🇺🇸
Dear 36th Ward Neighbors,

Happy Leap Day! As February comes to an end, I want to update you all on what's happening in the 36th Ward. Here are some things to look out for & keep in mind as we enter March.

KEEPING OUR WARD CLEAN
🚨 Stop by the 36th Ward Office to get a "Pick Up After Your Pet" Sign! With the warm weather starting up again, it's important to remind our neighbors to clean up after their pets. Let's keep our streets clean together! 🐕‍🦺

➡️ Residents, please REMOVE any and all materials that you are using in the street to save yourself a parking spot. If things are seen on the parkway, they will be moved out of the street. If they are placed there again, the Chicago Department of Streets & Sanitation will remove these materials.

🗑♻️ We're recruiting volunteers for our 36th Ward Community Clean Up! Join your neighbors to help make our ward a cleaner place. If you want to help, reach out to us at [email protected].

As always, please REPORT any excess trash you see on the streets. Put in a request to 311.chicago.gov & email a picture to [email protected]. Be sure to include the address and a description of the issue in the email.

PROMOTING PUBLIC SAFETY
- Our office works closely with the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff's Office to respond to crimes and keep our residents safe.
- As a reminder, always CALL 911 whenever you see a crime or suspicious activity occurring. That is the only way for CPD to know when & where to target their responses.
- Attend a community meeting with your Police District! At the bottom of this email, you will find the CAPS Police Beat Meeting Schedules for the 11th, 12th, and 25th Police Districts. Find your Police District & Beat here: operations.chicagopolice.org/FindMyDistrict
