'Chicago’s debt is a slow-motion crisis. The clock is running out.'

Read my op-ed in the Chicago Tribune!

On Monday, The Chicago Tribune published my op-ed on the City's $30 billion debt crisis, which will crowd out spending for potholes, parks, and police. My op-ed lays out the numbers and why Mayor Johnson’s back-loaded debt, ignored efficiency reports, and failure to lead has made it worse. To read the full piece, click here.

Community Training Observation Day

April 11, 2026

The Chicago Police Department is excited to offer a unique opportunity for Chicagoans to get a first-hand understanding of the recruit training for sworn officers through an innovative new program. By participating in this program, residents will experience a day in the life of a recruit officer. Each of these topics are a part of the 2026 recruit training for sworn officers.

This Community Training Observation Days program is designed to foster transparency, strengthen police-community relationships, and provide valuable insight into the training standards that drive professional and accountable policing in our city.

Camera Registration Program

When a crime occurs, Police Officers and Detectives canvass the area looking for evidence to determine what occurred. Video footage can greatly assist in their efforts.

If you have a private security camera that captures the public way and you are interested in assisting in an investigation in the event of a crime in your neighborhood, you can register your camera with the Chicago Police Department

By registering your camera, you are simply allowing the Chicago Police Department to contact you in the event of a crime in your area. CPD will not have direct access to your camera system and cannot access camera footage without your consent. This is a free and voluntary program. Learn more on the program website.
