Thriving 21 Weekly Bulletin

July 22, 2026

Hi 21st Ward Family,

Last week, Mother Nature tested our city with extreme heat and smoke from the Canadian wildfires.

During this difficult time, my office conducted wellness checks, shared safety information and connected some of our most vulnerable residents with helpful resources. I was also encouraged to see neighbors checking on one another and making sure loved ones were safe.

When times are hard, we must lean on and care for one another. As your Alderman, I remain committed to making sure our community has the information, resources and support it needs—but this work takes all of us.

Thank you for continuing to show up for your neighbors.

Together, we're building a thriving 21st Ward.

— Alderman Ronnie L. Mosley

Investments in our neighborhoods are moving forward. Here's a look at the projects that will improve our streets, transportation infrastructure, and quality of life.

Completed street resurfacing:

  • 115th–116th & Laflin
  • 99th–101st & Green

Good infrastructure is about more than pavement. It's about safer streets, stronger neighborhoods, and protecting the investments residents have made in their communities.

The Department of Transportation has a tool called the Chi Street Work Portal where you can input an address and see all surrounding permits for projects on that street.

  • City service requests
  • Streets and sanitation concerns
  • Housing resources

  • Development questions
  • Infrastructure concerns

If you need assistance, our team is here to help.

Every street improvement, every new business, every housing development, every community event, and every constituent request resolved moves us one step closer to the kind of neighborhood we all deserve.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Alderman. My office remains committed to being accessible, responsive, and focused on delivering results for every resident of the 21st Ward.

In the Community

Creating Summer Opportunities for Chicago’s Youth

I joined Mayor Brandon Johnson, the Department of Family and Support Services, Chicago Youth Works and Phalanx Family Services to highlight the growth of youth employment opportunities across Chicago.

Chicago Youth Works is now the second-largest city-run youth employment program in the country. I am especially proud that Auburn Gresham and Roseland rank among the top five communities citywide for youth hires. Connecting young people with jobs, mentorship and positive opportunities is an important investment in their futures and the safety of our neighborhoods.

The Return to Motown

I enjoyed attending The Return to Motown at APC Theater right here in the 21st Ward. Supporting local theater and the talented artists who bring music, culture and entertainment to our community is part of building a thriving ward. The next performances are Saturday, September 12, at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM at 11409 S. Vincennes Ave.

Celebrating Our Block Clubs

Summer block parties are a special tradition in the 21st Ward! I enjoyed visiting neighbors at the 86th & Parnell and 91st & Carpenter block club celebrations, as well as the PlayStreets event on 107th Place. Each gathering was filled with food, music, family-friendly activities and fellowship.

Thank you to our block club presidents and residents for creating opportunities for neighbors to connect and build stronger, safer communities together.
