44th Ward Special Alert: Cubs Wild Card Series Playoffs

Dear Neighbors,

We are excited to welcome playoff baseball back to Wrigley Field! The Chicago Cubs are officially back in the postseason, and we want to make sure neighbors are updated on home game logistics.

The Cubs will host the San Diego Padres for the best-of-three Wild Card series at Wrigley Field tomorrow, Tuesday, September 30th; Wednesday, October 1st; and a third game on Thursday, October 2nd if needed. All games in this series will begin with a first pitch at 2:08pm, with the third game potentially beginning later. Gallagher Way will open at 11:08am, and gates open at 12:08pm.

If the Cubs win this series, the first two games of the next round will be played on the road in Milwaukee. The MLB typically releases updated schedules 1-2 days before each series begins, and we’ll share details as soon as they’re available. You can also keep track on the MLB's online schedule here or see below for the projected playoff schedule.

We expect attendance and neighborhood activity to be comparable to a busy Opening Day game. Street closures, parking restrictions, truck traffic restrictions, and CTA service adjustments will follow the usual game-day procedures. You can see general playoffs information on our website here, and night game parking information here. Sign up for the Cubs' neighborhood email list here to receive more Wrigley Field news.

Please note that a military aircraft flyover is planned for Game 1 tomorrow, on Tuesday, September 30th. Pyrotechnics and fireworks will also be used during the series, so neighbors and pet owners should be mindful of loud noises.

For game-day parking violations and other quality of life issues, the Cubs Hotline is available at (866) 4-CPD-TOW. Issues or comments for the Chicago Cubs can be directed to (773) 404-CUBS or [email protected]. Please call 911 for police emergencies. To receive City alerts, text 'CHIBIZ' to 6-7-2-8-3.

Below is a full list of potential playoff dates if the Cubs advance further (times to be determined). We’ll keep you informed as MLB updates the schedule.
