Dear Neighbor,
The funeral procession for Officer John Bartholomew will pass through the 39th Ward along Lawrence Avenue on Friday, May 8th, around 1:45 pm, following his funeral.
Officer Bartholomew served the 17th Police District and 39th Ward. I invite neighbors to line the procession route, on Lawrence from Pulaski to Cicero, tomorrow. We encourage you to start lining the street at approximately 1:45 pm.
If you would like to show support by holding a sign like the one above, you may pick them up at the 39th Ward Public Service Office today until 5 pm, or tomorrow before the procession.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) has issued a traffic alert for partial road closures and severe traffic congestion on Thursday, May 7th, from 11 am to 9 pm, and on Friday, May 8th, from 9 am to 3 pm, as the City mourns the loss of Officer Bartholomew. Anticipated street closures include:

DuSable Lakeshore Dr. from Hollywood Ave. to Foster Ave.

Sheridan Rd. from Lawrence Ave. to Devon Ave.

Bryn Mawr Ave. from DuSable Lake Shore Dr. to Broadway Ave.

Lawrence Ave. from DuSable Lake Shore Dr. to Cicero Ave.
Both sides of Lawrence Avenue between N. Sheridan Rd. and Cicero Ave. will have No Parking restrictions from 4:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday.
