16th Ward Community E-Newsletter

Relevance: 0/10

Summary

16th Ward Alderman Stephanie D. Coleman’s April 2026 newsletter does not mention any zoning, development, housing, transit, budget hearings, or related policy/ordinance actions. It focuses instead on requesting residents report city service issues through 311 (potholes, street lights, fly dumping) and promotes ward resources and events, including a free Homeowners Resource Workshop on April 25, property tax exemption applications, and college/support and senior/veteran resource sign-ups.

Save Money on Your Property Taxes

Exemption applications for the 2025 tax year are now available online. When you claim exemptions on your home you unlock real savings that help lower your property tax bill. Applying for exemptions online is easy and allows certain exemptions to rollover year-over-year.

One of the most common exemptions is the Homeowner Exemption. This exemption saves homeowners on average around $950 every year. You may also be eligible for other exemptions including:

  • Senior Exemption
  • Senior Freeze
  • Veteran with Disabilities
  • World War II Veterans
  • Person with Disabilities

Don't miss out on property tax savings. To review the exemptions you received in the past, check your property details and look under the 'Exemption History & Status' section.
