| | Dear Neighbor,
In the spirit of spring cleaning, please note that our office has received a new shipment of our pick up after your pet/do not litter yard signs. They are now available for pick up at our office during our regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
This past Sunday, I attended the “Dry Run” for the Logan Square Farmers Market at its new home in the Milwaukee Avenue Plaza and along portions of Logan Boulevard. It was great to see the new plaza activated for its intended purpose and to see almost 9,000 visitors enjoy this public space! I am excited for the future of the Farmers Market and all of the great civic and cultural programming happening this year and in the future. |

| At Wednesday’s City Council meeting, in recognition of Earth Day celebrations, I had the pleasure of presenting the Trash People organization with an honorary resolution to uplift their work of environmental stewardship and community building across the city. The Trash People is a volunteer-run organization that organizes community cleanups, volunteer fairs, and mutual aid. I was proud to uplift their work in the City Council. |

| Also during Wednesday’s City Council meeting, I passed an ordinance that clarified the intent of the Fair Notice Ordinance by providing clear protections for tenants from landlords filing for an eviction during the notice period of lease non-renewal. This ordinance was crafted in collaboration with tenant advocates and the Department of Housing and Law Center for Better Housing.
Additionally, I was proud to vote to uphold Mayor Brandon Johnson’s veto of the One Fair Wage repeal. I applaud the mayor and my colleagues for standing up for tipped workers and maintaining their wage increases that had been codified into ordinance in 2023, which will eventually phase out the subminimum wage. Now more than ever, workers need higher wages. I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue supporting workers and our small businesses so that all of our communities can thrive.
On Thursday, I visited and met with the team at Good Shepherd Christian Academy in West Logan Square. Good Shepherd is a Lutheran Christian School that has a long history in our neighborhood! Over the 119 years that they’ve been in operation, Good Shepherd has educated many students in our neighborhood, and it was great to learn more about their academic program and their annual community building events. |

| On Friday, I visited Logan Square Elementary School and met with Principal Schulte and Assistant Principal Lopez. We discussed the challenges some of the schools in our district are facing after having federal grant funding rescinded by the Trump administration, and the effects of rising costs of living and displacement in the community. I look forward to continue supporting Logan Square Elementary and all of our school families. |
