Thriving 21 Weekly Bulletin

August 20, 2026

Hi 21st Ward Family,

It’s Town Hall Week in the 21st Ward, and I’m excited to welcome representatives from the City Clerk’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office, and Comptroller’s Office to discuss City Hall services. Join us this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Woodson Regional Library to learn more about the services available to you and how they affect your daily life. Bring your questions and concerns—my team and I will be ready to assist you.

On Sunday, we’ll close out the Chicago summer with the House Hunnit Fest featuring King Farley at Jackie Robinson Park. Bring your lawn chairs, tents, and best dance moves to 105th and Morgan for a full day of music and community celebration.

Chicago Public Schools students in kindergarten through12th grade return to school on Monday, August 24. It is important that every student arrives on the first day ready to learn. Strong first-day attendance helps schools confirm enrollment and maintain the funding and resources our students need throughout the year.

As always, please contact our office with your questions or concerns. We are here to help expedite City services and connect you with the resources you need to feel safe and supported in your home, on your block, and throughout your neighborhood. We cannot help address what we do not know about, so please reach out and allow us to serve you

.

We are Better Together.

— Alderman Ronnie L. Mosley

SplitSec.AI Community Safety Pilot

If you missed our July 25th Town Hall, there is still time to participate in the 21st Ward’s SplitSecAI pilot program.

Residents can sign up for a free two-month trial of the gunshot-detection app, which helps identify possible gunfire and share safety alerts with trusted contacts.

The app does not record audio, track your location or share your personal information.

It is currently available for Android devices, with an Apple version coming soon.

Week 3 SplitSec.AI Community Safety Pilot Update

The 21st Ward’s SplitSec.AI Community Safety Pilot continues to grow. During Week 3, 20 registered participants contributed 787 total monitoring hours, an average of approximately 39 hours per participant.

No alerts were confirmed as gunfire, while five alerts were identified as false positives.

To improve accuracy, SplitSec.AI has enabled a corroboration feature that only notifies participants when a potential sound is detected by at least two phones. The team continues to train its detection model, recruit additional participants, and prepare its iOS app for release.

Residents can learn more about the pilot and register to participate during our August 22 Town Hall or by visiting SplitSec.AI.

Honda Air Bag Theft Alert

The Chicago Police Department continues reporting air bag thefts involving Honda vehicles.

Protect your vehicle by:

  • Using a steering wheel lock
  • Parking in well-lit areas
  • Reporting suspicious activity immediately

Small preventative steps can make a significant difference.
